See operator pricingWhy is it better?
Rideshare made ordering a car effortless. It also made pricing a black box. The apps work out the most you’re willing to pay for a trip and the least a driver will accept to do it, then keep the gap.
We’re not reinventing the status quo. Taxis are a regulated business, with metered fares, licensed drivers and local operators. austaxis gives that good old-fashioned model a facelift, not a replacement.
Australia is huge, and outside the cities taxis are the public transport. We want regional Australians to have the modern convenience of ordering online, without the opaque, predatory pricing that rideshare practises.
A small fee. A bigger local share.
Local operators run the cars. Local drivers do the driving. We’re the middleman connecting the trip, with a visible 2% platform fee on online-paid fares.
We’re building a lower-cost alternative to traditional taxi networks. Less spent on the middleman leaves more room for fair fares, sustainable driver pay and strong local businesses.
RidersSee what a trip could cost, with no extra austaxis platform fee added on top of this example fare.
DriversMore of the fare stays in the business that pays for the driving. Driver pay is set by the operator’s arrangements.
OperatorsKeep the balance after the disclosed online-payment fees, to cover drivers, vehicles and running costs.
The operator’s balance is before the $500/month subscription, payout and account fees, other applicable pass-through costs and operating expenses. It isn’t profit or driver take-home pay. Processing assumes an Australian domestic card; other payment methods can cost more.
The full picture matters. Savings against a traditional provider depend on their fees, your fleet and your fare volume. Cash and Cabcharge fares attract no austaxis per-fare fee; the subscription still applies.
For the people keeping towns moving
Straightforward pricing, with the costs out in the open. A flat subscription, a small fee on online-paid fares, and third-party costs passed through.

Flat platform subscription. Cancel whenever you need.
Domestic card processing is approximately 1.7% + $0.30 per transaction. Connect, payout and dispute costs are passed through where incurred; phone dispatch adds number rental and usage. Recharged costs carry applicable GST.
Built for the places we call home
Regional towns deserve a taxi experience that feels as connected as the city. Local drivers already have the knowledge, the licences and the relationships. We’re building the tools to bring it all online.
Our starting point is regional Queensland. Our ambition is a simpler way to order a licensed taxi, wherever in Australia you call home.
A few things worth knowing
No. The calculator gives an indication of cost using the regional Queensland tariff. It doesn’t reserve a taxi, confirm availability or take a payment.
Traffic waiting, tolls, airport charges and operator policies can change the price. The estimate includes GST and assumes three minutes waiting at each extra stop. Local show-day holidays aren’t included. Always confirm your fare with the operator.
The current tariff is for regional Queensland, effective 1 July 2026. It isn’t suitable for south-east Queensland or other states. Address suggestions are Queensland-wide, so check that your trip is in a regional tariff area.
Accessible bookings are part of the planned service. Contact your local operator for availability. Wheelchair passengers use the standard fare, not the example high-occupancy surcharge shown for maxi trips.
